“A Patriotic Family” Mother and Son Waving Flags, Civil War Era
(Set comes with both USA & Confederate flags)
“Everyone loves a parade!” or so the old saying goes. To celebrate a special occasion nothing brings out the crowds like a parade. And no parade was as exciting as when the circus came to town. The sight of exotic animals and performers marching through the heart of town from the railway depot to the fair grounds, would be truly amazing. A tantalizing hint of what was to be seen below the big top really brought out the crowds. As did a martial parade – wooing new recruits or exalting a great victory. To celebrate the Union victory over the Confederate states in 1865, 145,000 Union soldiers passed in review through Washington, D.C. before the President, the Cabinet, and senior officers from 23-24 May 1865.
