German 2 Man Flak Crew with Open Crate and High Explosive Shells

The German 88mm Flak gun could fire 15 to 20 rounds per minute, and even with a diminished six-man crew, the gun could be put into action within 2 1/2 minutes. A 1944 German ordnance listing includes 19 different rounds that could be used depending on the role being fulfilled. That included eight types of high-explosive (HE) rounds and seven armor-piercing (AP), with the rest being kinetic energy solid projectiles. These crewman wear the first pattern of the reversible winter uniform issued in the winter of 1942-43. This model reversed from “mouse gray” to white with all of the pockets and details replicated on both sides. The shells represented are the 8.8 cm Sprgr. Patr. L/4.5 (kz.) H.E. Shell, complete with a wooden transport crate.
