The Agricultural Revolution saw an unprecedented increase in agricultural production between the mid 17th and late 19th centuries. Agricultural output grew faster than the population over the hundred year period ending roughly in the late 1700s, which increased the food supply and contributed to the rapid growth of the population. This long process of improvement in farm management and animal husbandry proved to be a major turning point in history. Now, one family began to produce enough food for five families and so manpower was liberated from agriculture and became available for industry. Thus the Agricultural Revolution made possible the Industrial Revolution.
