U.S. Armored Infantry Company Officer with M1 Carbine

As exhibited with this figure, the M1 carbine was a weapon commonly carried by officers during World War II. This lightweight, semi-automatic weapon was issued to the U.S. Military during World War II, the Korean War, and after. Despite its name, it was not a carbine version of the M1 Garand rifle. The M1 carbine fired a .30 carbine cartridge, and many consider the weapon an alternative to the M1911 .45ACP automatic pistol. The M1 carbine entered service with a standard 15-round magazine clip and was not originally designed for use with a bayonet, although toward the end of the war variants would see a bayonet lug added. The M1 carbine is held in high regard by U.S. serviceman for accuracy and dependability.
